On June 10th, 11th, and 12th the first Capacity Building for the BioTourS project has been realized in Taranto. Each project partner has recommended four experts in the field of tourism and environmental protection, to participate in the event.
During these three days, participants have shared experiences and good practices to develop both research and dolphin conservation in the Adriatic Sea. They have analyzed strategies and case studies, scientific research thinking over the local impact and a way to adapt models to the reality of reference. On Saturday morning, partners joined a research trip to the Gulf of Taranto on board on JDC (Jonian Dolphin Conservation) Catamaran.
BioTourS project will introduce the best practices in sustainable cross-border tourism, preserve the natural heritage of the Adriatic-Ionian area, and involve youngsters in cross-border touristic activities aiming at raising awareness on cetacean conservation.
This project is co-financed by the European Union under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II) through the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro.
