Overview

Municipality of Termoli, a project partner within the BioTourS project created the Report on good practices about sustainable tourism and new challenge, whose purpose is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the importance of local resources – both cultural and natural – for regional tourism competitiveness. Each project partner addressed the development of one territorial study about sustainability practices and new challenges brought by modern tourism in its own region. 

Although these regions normally include more than one tourism destination, they are relevant in order to address policy questions related to environmental impacts on marine biodiversity in the South Adriatic Area. 

Municipality of Termoli, Italy - Molise is located along the Adriatic coast in southern Italy. The report deals with the challenges and strengths of this area which are important for the tourism supply. 

Jonian Dolphin Conservation (JDC), Taranto, Italy - This analysis report focuses on the city on the Ionian coast of Apulia, Taranto, considering that presents the city that suffers from a bad reputation due to the pollution of the area caused by major industrial poles. Secondly, it is a home to the best practice Jonian Dolphin Conservation, the subject of this research that has been researching and protecting the sea and cetaceans in the Gulf of Taranto since 2009. 

National Tourism Agency, Albania –The report deals with the analysis of the tourist market in Albania, and includes topics such as sustainable development of tourism, actors in the tourism sector and the development of tourism products according to actors operating in the tourism industry. Despite the developments in this sector, Albania remains a new tourist destination, with the challenge of positioning itself in the world market. 

IEC Tehnopolis, Montenegro – The report includes analysis of tourism and biodiversity in Montenegro, protection of coastal and marine area, as well as analysis of dolphin area in Boka Kotorska Bay.
